You are a geek if you find this shirt funny. Or if you even get it.
TJ Maxx is really great for some stuff. I bought a Calphalon 10 inch omelette pan for $30. I wish I could find a picture of it, but oh well.

Frye boots rock. I had a pair when I was little. I'm getting these. They've already been ordered. Woo hoo!

Well, as of today I'm under 130 lbs, which I haven't been since the beginning of senior year of college. Granted I was a much more in shape 130 because I was working out 5 days a week and playing three varsity sports, but I don't really feel like the slug I was at the beginning of the summer. Atkins rules.

Jesus Christ SUPERSTAR

Ron sent me this link today. Will someone buy me
the Pope doll with the Holy Cross Kali sticks, please?
Today I went to walmart to buy 25 carbwise bars because I bought 25 $.50 off coupons in an acution on ebay for like $3. The woman managed to not scan the bars, but still scan the $25 coupons. So essentially I got $12.50 off all the other stuff that I bought, and I got 25 bars (btw, they're $1.43 at Walmart. I've seen them as high as $2.99 a piece at CVS, $1.99 at Waldbaums, $1.69 at Target...) for free. I bought a lot of other stuff, and I thought the total was low, but I thought to myself that perhaps the coupons had been doubled or something and went home. I checked the receipt at that point and realized the mistake. Now, I feel really guilty and I want to go back and let them know their mistake, but the two other times I've done that (both times at the Gap, interestingly enough), the employee who had to fix everything seemed put out with me that they had to rering everything properly, so I don't think I'm going to do that.

In other news, on last Tuesday I managed to drive on to a curve to avoid being hit by a stupid truck that was speeding around the same cruve iin my direction and halfway into my lane, and thought nothing of it. I looked today, and there is a huge gouge in my front tire. That's pretty bad, I suppose, and I guess that means I'll have to buy 4 news tires. I just got these tires two years ago and they have about 50,000 miles on them. That kind of sucks. I think they still had at least a good year left in them.

I broke the power supply for my laptop (third time). Having two big dogs and a computer gets expensive. See you when I get my new supply!

see the pretty parrot and see how it ISN'T A FISH?

This is the stupidest thing I've ever read.

You can't blame Bush; he's just trying to capitulate to the desires of big industry and the conservative set. The logic that this will spur these countries to better manage their endangered species is retarded; anything that places a price on the animal when it's dead is not going to work. Nevermind that the amount of money any of these countries could make by destroying these animals' habitat is still far greater.

To some extent, I think the idea that eco-tourism is the way to go is working in some places like Kenya; in that instance the animals are only useful alive, and there is strong incentive to curtail the activities of poachers. Too bad it looks like we're going to encourage harvesting instead. It's all so very very frustrating.

It occurs to me that not everyone is familiar with the New Masters of the Universe dolls. Here is the Teela doll. My costume is based more on the comic one but whatever. You get the idea.

New costumes in the works... may even be done by Halloween and maybe I'll lend it to someone who is more in shape than I am... stay tuned...

BORG HAMSTER!!! Well, why not?
I added a few new things last night:

I'm not sure how I feel about these. In the future I may want to redo them to be a little bit bigger and to fit a little better, but I think they'll work for the time being.

This is pretty cool, but it's pretty fragile. I'm not really sure how to reinforce it more, but I'll think of sometihng. It's held on by two comes I glued to the underside. I've already broken it twice, but I think it will be ok from now on.

Just a cloesup of the staff. It's not that exciting. I want to redo it, as well. Sculpy might work better than the airdrying clay - I could support it with armature wire. I dunno. We'll see.

How on earth can people vote for someone who hasn't said anything more substantive in his campaign than "I did not grope any women"?

ehh it would have come out as a garbled austrian mess anyhow.
Here is my new pet. Isn't it cuuuute?

Here's the progress. Thanks to the Don for hosting the pic for me. I suck and figuring out how to host pics:

So again, I still need to hem, fix the wig, make a decent headpiece, add the snake to the back armor, redo the "necktie", add rams horns to the breast armor, add leather laces to the boots...and sew down all the hot glue decorations cause they keep breaking off!! UGH. Nevermind the paint on the staff!

Here are some stupid women:

Canadian
Cincinnati

hahahahahahahha

You want to make a lot of money? By stock in the company that makes these bars. I promise you. remember my post way back when about how I'm always right about these things???

If only I actually had money to buy stock with!

Knee pads: done.
Staff: done.

Good grief, I don't have much left to do! I rock!

Saturday, October 04, 2003

Anyway, actually all I have left to do on the costume is:

Add fine detail to staff and paint it.
Hem dress.
Add some gold trim to dress.
Make gold snakes for boots.
Add bangs to tiara/make wig work better.

Not bad! I hope the staff holds up. I'm afraid it will shatter if it is hit to hard.
hot glue hot glue hot glue hot glue

Well I went to the comic book store today and bought some, well, comics. What a geek I am. All I learned is that I've got a LOT more work to do on this costume if I"m going to pull it off by halloween..... and I don't really even have anytihng grat to wear it to! Maybe to ICon next year, since I did win a free pass for the whole weekend by winning the costume contest last year...
